Worldwide's Green Commitment
Here at Worldwide, we're committed to being a 'Green' printer and to operating in a way which minimises damage to the environment. We encourage you, our customers, to have your printed materials produced on our Worldwide Green paper because it is made from 100% post-consumer waste. We also work hard to adopt best-practice waste management and energy conservation standards in our Centres and production Hubs. Printing Doesn't Get Much Greener than This.
Planting trees is just one of our green initiatives. We already use new technology such as computer-to-plate printing and we're working to further reduce the environmental impact of our business activities. But just how Green is Worldwide?
Well we can't claim to be a green company. Not just yet anyway. We haven't analysed our carbon footprint and CO2 emissions, our factories aren't solar powered and we don't insist that our staff save water by showering with a friend. Seriously, there are two elements of our green strategy. Firstly, there's the way we manage waste and conserve energy. And then there's the recycled paper which we've chosen to offer to customers as an alternative to usual stock. Here's a bit more about those.
Worldwide Waste Management and Energy Conservation
We were the first franchise print group in Australia to be accredited by the Green Stamp system. Green Stamp is a joint venture between the Printing Industries Association and the Western Australian Department of Environment. It recognises companies which meet high standards governing waste management and disposal, pollution prevention and energy conservation. To date, we've achieved the accreditation in our WA Hub and all our WA Centres. To do so, we had to meet tough requirements in terms of how we handle and recycle solid waste such as paper, chemical and ink drums, pallets, shrink-wrapping, and toner cartridges. We also had to demonstrate best practice in terms of how we store and manage liquid waste such as cleaning solvents and pre-press chemicals. We're in the process of rolling out our WA Green Stamp accredited waste management program out across the other Hubs and Centres. For now, if we print your job in our WA Hub, we can offer to include the following claim within your artwork: Printed on 100% Recycled Paper By A Green Stamp Certified Printer Until we've completed the national roll-out process, we can't use the Green Stamp logo on products which we print at our NSW, Victoria, or Brisbane Hubs. The penalties are now very tough if we try to dodge this rule - so please don't ask us to! And to finish, here's a few bits and bobs to help you win at Trivial Pursuit: One tonne of recycled paper or cardboard saves: |
