Green fingers turn out for tree day

MARSFIELD Park will be getting a leafy load of TLC on Sunday as part of National Tree Day.

Ryde Council will be staging its tree-planting and individuals and corporations from around the northern district have been invited to lend a hand.

An initiative of Planet Ark and its partners, AMP Foundation and Toyota, National Tree Day calls for communities to "get growing".

Worldwide Online Printing in Epping and North Ryde has pledged to plant 10,000 native trees, the first 500 of which will be planted on Sunday.

Among others answering the call will be Macquarie Centre management staff.

Centre manager Gerard McSpadden said he was hoping community members and the business community would join in and help create a greener North Ryde for future generations.
