If you had a motto, what would it be?

If it ain't broken, don't fix it, and it ain't truly broken until it can't be fixed.

What's the best piece of advice you
ever received?
The first was to have faith in yourself in whatever you want to do - for if you do so, you will achieve it. The second was that if in doubt, refer to number 1.

What are your favourite stress
reducers?
Spending time with my family and friends, playing my guitar and going to the gym.

How do you think your competitors
would describe you?
Honestly, I've never really stopped to think about it! My focus is on making sure what were offering is relevant to the client.

Question

Answer

What were your reasons behind
starting Worldwide?
In this situation, I didn't start the business - I was given the opportunity to further enhance what existed, to enable the business to continue to grow and achieve the visions we set it.

What motivates you to succeed?

The desire to get businesses running smoothly and systematically with the capability to strategically handle whatever comes its way.

What's your biggest business strength?

The ability to visualise how the whole business process should work and fit together. Also, the patience to methodically work to the vision, to steer the course. I've always tended to believe that there's a solution for everything lurking somewhere - even if it doesn't always appear so!

What's been the toughest
business decision you've
ever made?

Any decision that requires closing down all or any part of a business and affects people, or selling something that you've created.

What have been the most difficult obstacles you've had to overcome while growing Worldwide?

Finding and encouraging other people to go on the journey that is required to achieve the vision, because you can't do it on your own. Getting everyone working as a team is always a challenge in franchising!

Who is the person you admire most?

Any other sources of inspiration?

People who succeed and maintain who they are through the process, and those who remain positive under pressure.

I like hearing everyday success stories about people in business - it reinforces that people do succeed. You've just got to want it and keep at it.

Question

Answer

What are the key growth drivers for Worldwide?

New and existing franchisees with the entrepreneurial desire to use what we offer to create their own success and wealth.

How do you create and sustain competitive advantage?

Printing is and always will be competitive. There is always disappointment in the process. You create the competitive advantage through the clients - listening to them, servicing their needs and being part of their business growth plan.

Ultimately, we have two customer groups to service - our franchisees and their retail customers. For our franchisees, we need to ensure we are the top system, the top brand, in the industry.

Customer 'satisfaction' is a commodity response to a commodity product - we want more than that. Customer loyalty is more important!

Are there any foreseeable barriers
to Worldwide's growth?
Our own ability to keep up in a rapidly changing marketplace, and the tight market for printers in Australia.

How do you measure your achievements and success?

Being business partners - that is, our clients being successful by dealing with us. Also, recognition by 3rd parties of our achievements, profit, media recognition and most importantly continued growth.

What are your goals and objectives
for Worldwide for the next five years?

Continue to grow the Worldwide brand in Australia and to look at opportunities to access other markets. We also want to continue to be regarded as a trusted print communications advisor to our clients
