Most recycled paper for printing is produced from pre-consumer content. That's to say it's made from waste materials left behind after a manufacturing process - such as off-cuts from a timber mill. It hasn't been used to make consumer goods so it's really only a "bit recycled'. Much, much better than that is paper made from post-consumer waste. Here, the material has already completed its life as a consumer item (eg milk carton) before being recycled and reconstituted into paper. Still awake? Good because if that's not complicated enough, paper made from post-consumer waste can be great or sensational. In other words, only a proportion of it can be from post-consumer waste. So be sure to look for the percentage as well as the type of recycled content; which you should find next to the recycled symbol. The symbol's called a Mobius Loop, by the way, and looks like this: 50% pre-consumer content 35% post-consumer content From a forest-friendly point of view, the more 'post-consumer' recycled content the better. The Worldwide Green Range is 100% post-consumer.
