Worldwide Opens $1.5m Queensland Digital Hub
Worldwide Online Printing has underlined its crusade to capitalise on the digital printing phenomenon with the launch of a $1.5m digital-only Qld production facility.
The high-tech new hub takes the group's investment in print technology, equipment and facilities to $4.5m this year, and will dramatically improve digital production and personalisation efficiencies for the 4,000 local business customers of Worldwide's 21 Qld retail Centres.
The facility, at Alexandra Place, Murarrie, was officially opened by Councillor David McLachlan on 18th October. It was then followed by the opening of Worldwide's new NSW production hub the following day.
Queensland Hub Manager, Peter Mingham, said:
"Clear and consistent communication throughout the sales channel is key to staying focused, winning business and keeping customers loyal. But customers receive so much communication that it's hard to imagine them reading all of it.
"With digital printing technology, you can save you money, transform your relationships, nail new business and give existing customers an even better reason to spend more.
"The age of flexible, highly personalised marketing isn't just upon us. It's changing our lives forever. And we're delighted that this new facility gives us chance to put cutting edge digital technology within the grasp of Queensland businesses."
Worldwide CEO Mark Manderson added:
"It's a very exciting time to be a major player in Australia's digital printing sector. This latest round of significant investment has created the largest facility of its type in Queensland, and one of the biggest digital-only Centres in the ready-to-print market in Australia."
"It again demonstrates our confidence in the ability of our production teams - and our commitment to help our Franchise Owners grow their businesses and create wealth."
Running advanced Xerox and Oce digital machines 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, the new hub can produce over 32,000 black-and-white and 7,000 colour sheets per hour - a potential 30m sheets per year.
A centrepiece of the hub's technology and equipment line-up is the Xerox Nuvera 144 black and white printer. It's new 'green' EA toner is environment-friendly, can print on both gloss and coated stocks at high speed, and can also handle oversized A3 stock with full bleed; a rarity in large-format digital.
For colour work, the hub runs two Xerox machines: the Xerox 6060 and the 2060Plus.New finishing equipment means the hub can wire-bind 600 books per hour and also offer high speed folding, drilling, saddle-stitching and laminating. Star finishing devices include a Delta Digital Celloglaze (Komfi) and a RENZ Mobi 500 Automatic Wire.
Fuelling the speed and verstality of the new hub's production capability is XM Pie uDirect Variable Data Printing personalisation software. It allows designers using Adobe InDesign CS2or CS3 personalise every sheet of each print run.
To mark the opening of the hub, Worldwide is producing 1,000 free personalised copies of its new business guide, 27 Steps to Unlock the Power of Digital Printing, available here. Normally priced at $19.95, the guide gives practical examples of how digital printing and personalisation tools can turbo-charge promotional material such as mailers, manuals and catalogues - and help businesses cash in on the customisation boom.
